The city of friendly faces, endless shopping opportunities and cheap drinks, Dublin is a perfect destination for a brilliant hen weekend. The capital city and largest city in Ireland, Dublin has something for everyone, from an abundance of culture to some of the best nightlife in the land.
For hen parties, Dublin is also perfect for some good retail therapy. There’s shopping ranging from the high street shops of Grafton Street, to the original and boutique shops found in the narrow lanes of Temple Bar.
To see a different side of Dublin, and absorb a little Irish history and culture, check out the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral, it’s more than 1000 years old, or the stunning Dublin Castle.
If you’re looking to make your Dublin hen weekend really memorable though, then why
not combine it with one of the many fantastic festivals that take place throughout the year?
Traditionally a religious holiday celebrated on the 17th March, St Patrick’s Day is now a huge national festival held all over Ireland and even celebrated in the UK. The atmosphere in Dublin is at its best on this special day: traditional Irish music fills the air, glasses are full to the brim, and the streets are painted with green flags and tricolours. Given the choice, it’s the day to book your hen night in Dublin.
The Fringe Festival, between 10th September and 25th September, features an array of cultural
delights, including music, dance, theatre and comedy. Dublin is transformed into a creative melting pot of well-known talent and becomes a showcase for new and emerging artists, both national and international. With all this going on, you’ll have plenty of entertainment options to choose from.
For music fans, the Electric Picnic Festival that takes place from the 2nd to the 4th September is musical heaven, with some of the best bands around taking to the stages. Held just 50 minutes from Dublin, this year’s festival welcomes the likes of Arcade Fire, Pulp, The Chemical Brothers and Interpol. There is plenty more on offer too, with comedy, art and theatre all playing its part over the two days.
With so many festivals in and around Dublin, you can’t go wrong with a hen weekend here. Simply make sure you book your tickets in advance, then get stuck into the festivities and enjoy the craic!
