UK insurer urges couples to include gifts in home contents insurance

Research from Churchill Home Insurance in the UK has revealed few couples are insuring their wedding gifts with their home contents. Churchill is now urging newlyweds to make sure their home insurance covers their wedding presents.

The insurer’s research also shows the average wedding guest spends £60.31 on wedding gifts. Churchill Home Insurance reveals a third of wedding guests choose kitchenware as wedding presents. 7% go for soft furniture and 42% give vouchers, honeymoon donations or cash.

10% of newlyweds estimate their wedding presents are worth £3,000 or more. Receiving valuable presents could radically change home policies as they mean a significant gap in contents insurance, according to Churchill.
The UK insurer is warning newlyweds and reminding them they should have adequate cover to ensure their new possessions are protected.
